The 3rd China Petroleum and Petrochemical Carbon Neutrality Technology Exchange Conference was successfully held in Xi'an from September 17th to 19th, 2025. The theme of this conference is "Green Innovation, Low Carbon Transformation", bringing together hundreds of expert representatives from industry associations, research institutes, and leading enterprises to conduct in-depth exchanges on cutting-edge carbon neutrality technologies, industrial development paths, and commercial practices in the petroleum and petrochemical industry.
Wang Yan, Vice president of MSTN Group led the carbon alcohol technology team to attend the conference and delivered a keynote speech titled "Smart Low Energy CO ₂ Capture Technology and High Value Utilization CCUlus" at the "Low Carbon Sustainable Development of Refining" forum.
In the report, Wang Yan introduced the intelligent and low-energy CO ₂ capture technology independently developed by MSTN as well as the new "CCUlus" concept. The MSTN CO ₂ capture process integrates intelligent control systems and efficient phase change absorbents, achieving adaptive optimization under complex working conditions and significantly reducing energy consumption, especially suitable for carbon capture needs at emission sources such as refining and chemical industries. The concept of "CCUplos" - using captured carbon dioxide as raw material and catalytic hydrogenation to synthesize methanol, not only can carbon be recycled, but also significant economic value can be created.
The content of MSTN's speech attracted high attention from the attendees. Several industry experts exchanged views during the Q&A session on issues such as technology energy consumption level, catalyst life, and economy, and recognized the potential of coupling green hydrogen with this technology to achieve "electricity alcohol chemical" co production.
This participation not only provided an important opportunity for MSTN's technology and R&D achievements to be showcased on national level industry platforms, but also built a significant bridge for the company to further communicate and cooperate with potential partners. During the meeting, the MSTN team had preliminary cooperation discussions with technical leaders from multiple units such as PetroChina, Sinopec, and National Energy Group.
In the future, MSTN will continue to deepen the research and engineering practice of carbon capture and resource utilization technology, providing China's petroleum and petrochemical industry with a carbon neutral solution that combines environmental benefits and economic feasibility, and helping the country steadily advance its "dual carbon" goals.
